Tales for Kids with Beards is a transmedia novel written and composed by David Rios. It follows Captain Butron on his voyages across the sea. The project brings together several artistic disciplines, including animation, literature, illustration, music, radio drama, and poetry, to tell his story.
My role covered all the visual imagery for the project. This included storyboarding, animatics, character design, and background painting. I worked mainly in Photoshop, used Toon Boom Harmony to animate some sequences, and finished compositing in After Effects
These are some of the backgrounds I created for the animated music video A Crowd of Strangers, a project awarded MinTIC's audiovisual creation grants in Colombia, through two separate Crea Digital calls, in 2013 and 2015. I worked on character design, background creation, and storyboards for this piece.
As a personal pilot project, I also developed an animated demo based on one of the Butrón stories, adapted into a point-and-click adventure game format.
